SOU Disability Resources
DR Accommodations
Disability Resources provides academic accommodations for students with disabilities and acts as a resource to all of SOU in creating an inclusive and accessible learning environment.
Accommodations are individually determined with the student in an interactive process.
Testing
Testing Accommodations, such as extended testing time, a reduced-distraction environment, assistive technology and/or reading and scribing during the exam.
Note Taking
Note Taking Services may include a loaned recording device, use of an online notetaking service (NTE), or the loan of a Livescribe pen.
Accessible Housing
We work with University Housing to provide access to allergy friendly dining options and other housing accommodations.
Accommodation Letters
In order to receive any accommodations for classes, students must request an accommodations letter to be sent to each of their instructors through AIMS at the beginning of each term.
Alternate Format Requests
Alternative Textbook Formats , including Braille, large print, audio, and PDFs to work with Text-to-Speech Programs or other computer-based formats.
Classroom Accommodations
Special classroom seating: Adjustable chairs, lumbar support chairs, etc., are available as accommodations.

Emotional Support Animals
An Emotional Support Animal may be necessary for a person with a disability to have equal opportunity to use and enjoy a dwelling, including public and common use spaces.
Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services
Sign language interpreters / captioning is available as an accommodation.
Service Animal Guidelines
Southern Oregon University fully supports the rights and responsibilities of people using service animals on campus.
Service animals are not pets.
